About the Bay Area Kinderstube
Bay Area Kinderstube (BAKS) is a full-immersion German-language preschool for children between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years. Our mission is to make German language development an integral part of the social, emotional, and cognitive development of the child. Most of our children come from homes in which one family member speaks German.
The BAKS approach embraces play- and theme-based learning in a mixed-age environment, with an emphasis on arts, music and community. Our goal is to foster confident, self-sufficient individuals who are caring and responsible.
We are licensed to serve a maximum of 30 children per day. The school currently employs the equivalent of three full-time preschool teachers and five part-time teachers/teacher's aides to ensure a very low teacher to student ratio of 1:6.
BAKS is a unique preschool with a warm and open sense of community. Thanks to the mingling of many cultures and ethnicities, and the strong culture of volunteerism, the BAKS community is lively and engaged. The annual celebration of Laternenfest, a traditional German holiday, draws many families from beyond the school, creating a memorable neighborhood event. BAKS families can also participate in our semi-annual camping trips, organized by volunteer parents.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child!
With warm regards,
